"I do long for normality back in Brisbane but..."

My day began today with a long 10km run up the Bow River. What a feeling… Imagine running through gorgeous green trees, fresh flowers with the birds chirping. I follow the trail along through Prince’s Island Park over a bridge where crystal blue water runs underneath. A duck and her four ducklings run out in front of me to cross the footpath… oh so cute. Hahaha corny I know. Sounds like something from a movie. But that’s how most of my days begin now as the days get warmer and I enjoying every minute I can outside. Sometimes I find myself wanting to snuggle up in bed and turn over but then I remember… “Sh*t… it’s sunny and 18 degrees outside”.

Anyway, we had another fun weekend. The Virgin Music Festival was in Calgary. Starts at 12noon and finishes at 10am. All’s I can say is, at least I’ve now experienced a Calgary festival. Boy, these Calgarians don’t know how to party. Nobody dresses up, no body rips their shirts off to show their hot body and the music… No wonder they call it cowtown. Hahaha.. Needless to say there was lots of country. Anyway, it was an experience all the same.

I’m excited for the week ahead. I’ve already had a few cancellations this week. Most people here go away for the summer and would rather be exercising outside – who wouldn’t after being cooped up all winter. Anyway, I’m taking a nutrition course this Thursday and then I’m hitting the pub with some girls on Friday night before we head to MEKI-KO on the weekend. One week of pure relaxation. I dare say we may be a little disappointed with the beaches, as the Australian beaches have lots to live up to but hey, I’m down for drinking pinna-coladas by the pool. J

Anyway, so ill be sure to post some photos when I get home. The following week is Stampede. I’m interested to see how crazy this town gets. Although, I’m not really up for partying with all the country hicks/folk… but whatever.

I must point out that Klint commented the other day on how rosy all my blogs are. We are having the time of our lives, but do have our down days where we could just head back to Brisbane. I miss my family and friends immensely. There’s not a day goes by I don’t think of you all. I long for normality back in Brisbane but know it will be there whenever we decide to come home. Although this working country town is hard to get use to, I’m embracing each experience and know that I’ll look back with lots of fun memories.

I hope all my girls had a blast at Neto’s hens night. I saw the photos. Hahaha… lots of mischief. I soooo wish I was there. I’m sure there’ll be a big paaaarrrtay upon my return though. And to Amanda – A VERY BIG happy 25^th birthday to you for Wednesday. I’ll be thinking of you honey.
