Are you time poor? We all are with busy lives, demands & the digital world bombarding us. This week, check how you prioritise your time to eat well.
Why take time to shop?
You know the feeling when you've done your weekly grocery shop and have all the foods you need for all the meals for the week. You feel confident that you will eat well this week.
Contrast that feeling with not having shopped, having to scratch meals on the go and eating rubbish because you don't have nutrient-rich foods on hand.
Choosing a week of meals, preparing a shopping list and visiting the supermarket at the start of your week sets you up for success.
Why take time to cook?
Cooking dishes at the start of the week that you can use as leftovers later in the week gives you a wonderful back-up for when your week gets busy or you get tired.
If you're like me, cooking can be a chore or a pleasure depending on your skills, experience and support. Irrespective of how you rate at cooking, it's an opportunity to control what goes into your meals and feel you are nourishing your body.
Once a week I like to go to the local market or grocery store, find as many vegetables coloured under the rainbow (especially the green ones), I also purchase either steak or chicken and literally just dice everything up and throw it into a big wok and make a stir fry (this generally fills about 5-6 small containers - ie 5-6 meals). This is such a great healthy meal, one that you can also freeze for future use. I know after a long day in the studio, the last thing I feel like doing is cooking. All it takes is a little discipline and preparation :)
Why take time to eat?
Eating your main meal without the distraction of TV, computer screens or even traffic, gives you an opportunity to enjoy your food, focus on satisfaction and ensure you eat just the right amount for your needs.
Family meal times also offer a chance to catch up, communicate and recharge after a busy day.
When during the next week, have you scheduled time to shop, cook and eat well?
See you in the studio TEAM,
Hayles :)
PS- Just a reminder that we'll be at Kangaroo Point this coming Saturday for our normal group session. We kick off at the NEW time of 7:30am (due to the weather heating up). Remember it's free for all current members and friends and family can join in the fun at a casual rate of $20.
Don't forget too, my Christmas party is just over a week away. Saturday 20 November 2010 at 2pm, Orleigh Park, West End. I look forward to seeing you all there.
