How to be a regular exerciser!

These ladies have become regular exercisers... Every Thursday afternoon they join me for a fun filled session on the school oval! You've come a long way ladies, well done!!!

Being a regular exerciser to build or maintain metabolic fitness is more about mindset than sweat.

If you ever get frustrated (I do on occassion) that you don't exercise enough, then here's a positive way to think about it.

Feeling achievement is more productive than feeling frustration

If you set a Target of three sessions per week and you do four sessions, you feel great because you've exceeded your Target. On the other hand, if you set a Target of five sessions but do four, you can feel you've failed.

But you did the same number of exercise sessions and four sessions is certainly a regular pattern.

The aim of setting Targets, particularly for new exercisers is to choose a weekly pattern you can achieve relatively easily. Then build up from there.

Is it time to revise your exercise Targets?

Now, don't get me wrong. I don't want you to exercise less. But, if you regularly feel frustrated that you don't exercise enough, then it could be time to set lower Targets.

The emotional energy you'll feel from achieving your Targets more often will propel you to add sessions, burn more calories and build greater metabolic fitness.

It also helps to give yourself a cheer and say out loud "I am a regular exerciser". You know I'm cheering!
